8-Person Tulip Field Tours: Amsterdam & Keukenhof
Last year we showed President Obama Dutch tulips. We can do the same for you!

Since 2015 we’ve been bringing bringing people to see tulip and hyacinth fields near Amsterdam. Last year’s clientele included Barack Obama! It was quite a privilege and you can read all about it here.
Our tours always feature a maximum of eight people. They’re cliche-free and guests love the relaxed and friendly vibe. We have two routes: our off-the-beaten-track tour goes north and takes in Waterland and the Beemster Polder. The highlight is a visit to a completely private tulips farm. Our other tours cater to guests who are visiting Keukenhof (to the south-west): they combine transportation to Keukenhof with a tour of the surrounding tulip fields area.
Please read our offerings carefully so that you pick the right tour for you.

REVIEWS
"We had a great day with Rory, visiting small communities outside Amsterdam. Lots of history running the expanse from the 1600s to the 2020s. Windmills, beautiful countryside, great stops for pie and lunch. Very much enjoyed this tour and highly recommend for visitors who want to see this beautiful country."

What an amazing time we had with Rory and what an amazing host he is! We toured the countryside, stopped in beautiful small towns, got up close to windmills off the tourist trail (no crowds!)... We literally can't recommend this tour more highly.

We all had a wonderful time and would highly recommend his tour if you want to go see what the countryside has to offer without being touristy. Rory had a wealth of knowledge and was very open to sharing this information and answering all of our questions. Thanks Rory for a day we will always remember!!"

Off-The-Beaten-Track-Tulips Tour
€125pp / 8-people max / 9am - 2.15pm
(Incl: Windmill Admission, Light Picnic Lunch & A Beer)
This itinerary is our pride and joy! We avoid Keukenhof altogether and instead bring you a truly Dutch day out, travelling back-roads and culminating in a visit to a private tulips farm, far off all tourist routes.
- Backroads Tour
- Golden Age Town (and two tiny rural villages)
- Windmill Visit (original windmill from the 1630s)
- Private Tulips Farm
- Stop at a dike overlooking the largest lake in W. Europe
- Food: Dutch Cheese Sandwich, Dutch Apple Pie, A Beer
We start out exploring the countryside to the north of Amsterdam known as Waterland. These are tiny country roads, and we’ll skirt the edge of the largest lake in Western Europe. We’ll stop at an unspoiled Golden Age town, with architecture largely from the 1500s and 1600s.
After that we’ll head to the Beemster region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a tulips growing region. We’ll visit a private tulips farm, where we’ll be the only visitors. We’re friends with the farmers, and we can spend far more time in their fields than is possible in the tulip fields around Keukenhof.
We finish off with a trip to an original working windmill from the 1630s. You’ll see inside it and learn about it. At the windmill we’ll also have a picnic lunch of a Dutch cheese sandwich, Dutch apple pie, and a beer!
[In the beginning part of the season we visit a hyacinths farm instead of a tulips fields. We detail that more on the booking calendar page. Please read in detail].

Keukenhof & More Tulips Tour
€125pp / 8-people max / 3pm - 9pm
(Update: We're no longer offering this route as demand for our Off-The-Beaten-Track Tour is so strong)
This itinerary combines a visit to Keukenhof gardens with our signature approach to back-roads touring.
- Partial Backroads Tour
- Keukenhof Gardens (circa 2 hours, unguided)
- Visit to a tulips field near Keukenhof for photo ops
- Picnic of Dutch cheese sandwich, a beer, and other nibbles
We start off with a partial back-roads tour. The first hour will be the same charming route as the Off-The-Beaten-Track Tour. We then zip down to Keukenhof where you will have two hours in the gardens (unguided, as you don’t need a guide).
After Keukenhof, we’ll visit one of the nearby flower fields for photo ops. (Please note, we won’t have this field to ourselves). We’ll finish off with a picnic of a Dutch cheese sandwich, a beer, and some other nibbles.

Hyacinths / Early Part of The Season
If you tour with us during early April, we visit hyacinth fields instead of tulip fields. This is because hyacinths bloom a couple of weeks earlier. We actually think a field of hyacinths (whisper it) might be marginally more spectacular than a field of tulips, as the scent is much stronger and it gives you an aromatherapy bath effect.
We don’t have dates as to when we transition from hyacinth field to tulip fields, as there is no way of knowing it in advance. It’s usually the early part of mid April, maybe April 12 or 13, but that is by no means set in stone.

Rory, your guide...
That’s me there, looking off wistfully into the distance in a field of tulips.
